FAIRBANKS- A Fairbanks resident who hired a hitman to kill a lifelong friend because of a financial investment has been sentenced to 6 ½ years in prison.

The hitman alerted the FBI about Eric Grabber's request and agreed to work for the agency as an informant in the case.
Grabber paid him $20,000 - half the $40,000 contract price - to go to Indiana in search of George Cole for the purpose of killing him.
The 57-year-old Grabber pleaded guilty last fall to two counts of using interstate commerce in furtherance of a murder-for-hire scheme.
At this week's sentencing, he turned to his friend and admitted that he paid a confidential informant to murder him.
