An Anchorage man dies after ATV rollover in Big Lake

by Pearl-Grace Rasmussen

BIG LAKE, AK --  25-year-old Ryle Amberg had been driving a Yamaha Rhino side by side ATV when he attempted to avoid a metal gate arm that was in his path.

Trooper investigation showed that Amberg reportedly did not see the gate until last minute when he lost control of the vehicle and rolled onto the driver's side.

Troopers responded with AMS and fire department members to South Horseshoe Lake Road in Big Lake where Amberg was not breathing nor conscious.

Alaska State Troopers say Amberg was partly ejected and the ATV landed on him.

He was not wearing the seatbelt the vehicle was equipted with and he was not wearing a helmet.

Troopers say alcohol is a factor and the investigation is on-going.
