FAIRBANKS- Jill Falldin is out after her first year as manager of the Tanana Valley State Fair in Fairbanks.
She confirmed that the board of directors did not renew her contract after her six-month probation period ended. She says the board did not give her a reason, and board members declined comment to the newspaper.
The fair has less than 100,000 visitors this year, its lowest attendance in five years. However, Falldin says the reported attendance of about 98,000 didn't reflect free tickets given out that previously had been counted as part of the attendance.
Alaska State Troopers also say a horse stabled at the fair was sexually abused this year. She says she did everything she could possibly do about increasing security.
