FAIRBANKS- Just five weeks after setting a heat record, Fairbanks is getting ready for its first snow of the year.
The city could get that first snow on Wednesday. The state's second-largest city had its first official frost of the season on Sunday.
The good news is that the snow probably won't accumulate. The National Weather Service says the ground is still too warm for any snow to stick around long.
On Aug. 8, the temperature hit 80 degrees for the record 36th time this summer in Fairbanks.
