Fairbanks Residents Should Expect Poor Air QualityThe air quality for Fairbanks and North Pole is expected to be unhealthy through Friday.
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - The air quality for Fairbanks and North Pole is expected to be unhealthy through Friday.
The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner says that's because cold, still air has settled into the area, and that means more fine particulate pollution. Air quality may vary by neighborhood. Officials say particulate pollution will be more concentrated in neighborhoods where buildings are heating by wood and coal and in parking lots if cars are idling. Pollution is expected to be less severe in the hills. |
