FAIRBANKS- Three Valdez men were rescued from a car crash by a National Guard helicopter crew returning from picking up a hunter suffering heart problems.
Steven Alley Sr. says that he and his son spent 20 minutes Wednesday in a partially submerged and overturned pickup that left the Richardson Highway south of Paxson in snowy conditions and entered a creek.
His stepson was uninjured but his son, Steven Alley Jr., landed on top of his father. Alley says both of their lower bodies were in water.
The helicopter crew spotted the truck. They cut the men out and hoisted them to the helicopter.
The senior Alley suffered broken ribs. Steven Alley Jr. suffered a broken neck and was transported to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage.
