BETHEL - You can add Bethel to the list of towns in Alaska where it's been hot.
Daily high record has been broken. It was 88 degrees on Tuesday, breaking the record of 78 degrees set in 1976.
Temperatures have been in the mid-70s this week. The National Weather Service says the normal temperatures for this part of June are mid- to high 80s.
However, residents say it's hotter than normal, and weather service meteorologist Bill Whittern agrees.
That's because temperatures have been colder than normal for about the last three years.
Last month's cold temperatures are another reason why people may be feeling the heat a little bit more this month. Five new record lows were set during May.
