The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating a small plane that crashed near an airstrip north of the Brooks Range.
NTSB spokesman Clint Johnson said Thursday that the Helio Courier aircraft crashed soon after takeoff at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday. He says three people were aboard and at least one person was seriously injured, possibly two. Johnson says the pilot was not injured. He says the pilot is related to the two others on board the plane. The injured were flown to Anchorage for medical treatment. Johnson says the crash occurred near the Happy Valley airstrip in the plane that is capable of short takeoffs and landings. The 1973 plane is registered to Jago River Holdings LLC in Fairbanks. |
