New Limits for Copper River Chitina DipnettersThe State Board of Fisheries has put a salmon catching limit to Chitina Dipnetters on the Copper River. They will now only be allowed to catch 1 king salmon per season. If their net happens to catch 2, they have to throw the other fish back into the water. The board met last week in Valdez where they rejected a proposal for dipnetters to be able to catch up to 5. The Board of Fisheries said that this is mainly because the salmon supply in the Copper River just isn't as high as it used to be. The new limit will affect about 10,000 dipnetters.
