Occupy Fairbanks Breaking Borough Rules

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) -
A pair of tents has sprung up at the Occupy Fairbanks site in Veterans' Memorial Park in Fairbanks.
Those tents have members of Occupy Fairbanks at odds with the borough mayor.
Mayor Luke Hopkins held a meeting with Occupy Fairbanks
representatives on Wednesday to talk about the tents, which amount to a violation of borough park rules that say there is no camping
in the park.
The tents went up Monday just as temperatures dropped
more than 30 degrees below zero.
The protesters have said warm shelter is a requirement for them
to maintain their First Amendment rights, but Hopkins doesn't
agree.
Protester Brent Baccala says the meeting with Hopkins was
cordial but there was no agreement on the next step.

If this was a group of Tea Party people you can bet that the hue and cry would be tumultous, the News-Minus would be screaming for their removal, and our borough mayor would have his police toadies there in minutes.
