A reward is being offered for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the wanton waste of a moose near Ferry, a small town near Healy.
Troopers say a hunter found the 45-inch bull moose in early September, six miles up the Ferry Trail. The bull had two brow tines on one side and three on the other, which is legal for hunters in the area carrying a bull hunting tag. However, not legal for a normal harvest moose.
A 500 dollar reward is being offered by the Fish and Wildlife Safeguard hotline, and a local miner pitched in the ounce of gold as an added incentive.
Anyone with information can leave a tip with the safeguard at 1-800-478-3377. You can also call Trooper Jim Ellison in Cantwell at 768-4050. The case number is 11-90147.
