APD Arrests Teens Accused of Gang-Related Activity

by Chad news

Nearly a year after an attack inside an Anchorage apartment, APD has made a series of arrests in the case, saying the assault was gang-motivated.

Seventeen-year old's Michael Manufeekai, Kaniela Lavea, Keith Evangelista and Deontae Daniels, along with 18-year-old Ryan Skrukrud were arraigned Friday, all charged with robbery burglary and assault. The teens have been waived into adult court.

APD says they beat and kicked the residents of an apartment in January of last year and then stole their TV and entertainment system. Witnesses say they were yelling a gang name during the assault.

As for why it took so long to make an arrest, APD says the victims were reluctant to cooperate.
