ANCHORAGE- The mosquitoes we jokingly refer to as the "state bird" are making their presence known well before the summer months.

Typically this is the time of year mosquitos would either freeze out or bed down below the snow.

The unusually warmer temperatures this month seem to have the pesky bug confused.

They have been spotted in the Southeast and along the peninsula.

Scientists say there is a chance we could see more mosquitoes than usual this summer.

Four of my fam members went out to get firewood and my sister caught a mosquito and saw few more a couple days ago. I saw a ptarmigan w/a brown head already too. I bet there's going to be a bear sighting too w how this weather is going!
