ANCHORAGE- Saturday is third annual Ted Stevens Day in Alaska.
Stevens, a Republican, represented Alaska in the U.S. Senate for 40 years. He died in a plane crash in Alaska in 2010.
The following year, the Legislature passed a measure setting aside the fourth Saturday of every July as Ted Stevens Day.
Organizers encourage people to get out and play to celebrate the day.
Several events are planned around the state. In Anchorage, new accessible playground will be dedicated at Cuddy Family Park.
A short program saluting Stevens will precede a barbecue in Fairbanks.
Two events are planned in Juneau, including an open house at the Ted Stevens Marine Research Institute and a potluck on Sandy Beach.
In Soldotna, people will learn how to cook and clean salmon

TALASKA, I've been saying the same thing, but he was part of the Murkowski bunch. Lisa went to bat for him to get his family votes.

SADLY BY THE TIME HE WENT OUT..HE WAS SO MIRED IN CONTROVERSY,,AND HIS TIE IN'S WITH VECO THAT IT WAS OBVIOUS HE WAS PEDDALING INFLUENCE AND VOTES.. THIS IS NOT THE TYPE OF ALASKAN THAT NEEDS TO BE REMEMBER... HOW ABOUT JAY HAMMOND....THE MAN WHO GAVE THE STATE SOMETHING WE CAN ALL REMEMBER... SOMETHING GOOD......JUST LOOK AT THE PERMANENT FUND FOR ONE EXAMPLE...... TED STEVENS ..HONESTLY I CANT REMEBER -1- THING HE DID FOR ANYBODY WHO DIDNT PAY HIM.... SAD TESTAMENT... AND HE WENT DOWN IN FLAMES DOING IT.... OBVIOUSLY NOT LEARNING HIS LESSON OF GREED & LOVE OF MONEY..FOR HIS OWN GOOD..NOT ALASKAS
