Alaska and Hawaii congressional delegates fight travel fees
Alaska and Hawaii's congressional delegations are banding together to battle increased fees for travelers.
WASHINGTON- Alaska and Hawaii's congressional delegations are banding together to battle increased fees for travelers.
They introduced legislation that would exempt the two states from an expected increase in air travel fees from the department of transportation.
The fees per flight would more than double going from $250 to $560.
Congressional delegates from both states are arguing that fyling is an essential part of their residents' every day lives.
Only twenty percent of Alaska's communities are on the road system.
The travel fee increases were part of the congressional budget deal put together in December.
