Authorities Make First Arrest in Koenig Case
Police have arrested a person of interest in the Samantha Koenig abduction.
This was the first person to be arrested in connection with the 6-week long case.
Thirty-four-year-old Anchorage man, Israel Keyes was arrested Tuesday in Lufkin, Texas.
Police are now trying to get all the information they can on him in hopes that any clues will lead them to Samantha.
The 18-year-old was last seen on the evening of February 1st at the Midtown coffee stand she worked at.
Keyes owns a construction company in Anchorage.
According to the company website, Keyes was in the army infantry and was stationed in Fort Lewis, Fort Hood, and Egypt before being honorably discharged in June of 2000.
The website also stated that he moved to Alaska in 2007 to start his business in as a contractor.
APD said that Keyes has a sealed federal arrest warrant.
They declined to releases any more details of the conditions of his arrest.
Keyes is currently being held in Beaumont, Texas.
