JUNEAU- U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski is supporting a proposal aimed at ending the current partial government shutdown.

Murkowski's office says the proposal from Maine Sen. Susan Collins would fund the government for six months while repealing the medical device tax authorized by the federal health care law on pacemakers and other items. Her office says the bill also would provide flexibility in how federal agencies administer automatic budget cuts.

Murkowski and other members of Alaska's congressional delegation have expressed frustration with the shutdown, which took effect last week after the House and Senate failed to agree on a plan to continue funding the government. In a floor speech, she said there are no winners in the current situation and country expects leaders in Washington to "get our act together."
