ASD Superintendent Finalists

by Maggie Young

The Anchorage School Board as selected their finalists for Carol Comeau's superintendent position.

After going through over 150 applicants, they have narrowed it down to 2: Steve Atwater, the current superintendent for the Kenai Penninsula Borough and Jim Browder, a former superintendent from Fort Meyers, Florida.

Anchorage School Board President, Gretchen Guess said that both candidates stood out for their leadership skills and work experience.

They're hoping for a new superintendent that is willing to invest a lot of time in the district and will hopefully stay in that position for at least 7 to 12 years.

Both candidates will be spending some time with the district in January.

The school board is hoping to make a decision around then.
