South Anchorage Water Reservoir

A new water reservoir in South Anchorage is officially up and running. 

The reservoir will make water much more reliable to the area.

It will provide water for buildings like Anchorage High School and several local home.s  

Construction began in May, costing about $7 million.

Officials say that because of the growing population in South Anchorage, it couldn't have come at a better time.

Mayor Dan Sullivan made it official, turning the valve to get the water flowing.

The reservoir holds about 500 million gallons of water.
