Anchorage, AK - Walking into the new store makes you feel like you’re entering the cupboard and popping into a new outdoor wonderland. Every turn takes you into a new experience and sparks wanderlust, daring you to find yourself getting lost in both the store and the wilderness.
From winter sports to biking, and camping to running – the store is filling niches Anchorage never knew it was missing.
Store manager, Michael Herzog, says their goal is to help Alaskans get into the mountains as smoothly and swiftly as possible, a task that just couldn’t happen in their old, smaller facility.
The new facility boasts a full bike shop, ski shop, and will be increasing their rentals; but, there will be hands on teams for even the smallest items.
There’s no detail too small, according to Herzog, and they’re here for it all. REI in the Midtown Mall is ready to get you running, biking, and hiking through first the aisles and then the mountains.
Doors will open at 10 AM tomorrow for the stores soft launch and is open to all shoppers, not just co-op members. The formal grand opening is set for March.
