NOORVIK- An Alaska State Troopers spokeswoman says troopers have shot and wounded a man who aimed a gun at them when he emerged from his home in the northwest Alaska village of Noorvik. Troopers say the man earlier fired at homes in the village.

Spokeswoman Megan Peters said late Friday afternoon that 40-year-old Jeffery Henry of Noorvik suffered life-threatening injuries and was flown to Kotzebue for treatment. No update on his condition was immediately available Friday evening.
Peters says troopers responded late Thursday night to a report of a man walking around the village firing a gun, with some of the gunfire aimed toward homes. No injuries were reported.
When troopers arrived, the man had returned to his home and continued to fire the gun inside. Officers set up a perimeter and a negotiator began talking with the man.
Peters says an arrest warrant was issued related to weapons misconduct. She says alcohol was a factor.
