Two men from a small village of Shishmaref are mauled by a bear.
Troopers say Raymond Weyiouanna, 42, and Dave Weyiouanna, 37, and two younger individuals went camping at Cape Espenberg. When they took a boat up the river to hunt they encountered a bear at a shallow spot in the river and it charged and attacked the two men.
The Weyiouanna's were able to scare the bear off and return to Shishmaref. They were treated and released for their injuries at the village clinic.
Shishmaref is located next to Nome on Norton Sound.
