ANCHORAGE-Two days after increasing patrols on the Glenn highway, APD say they've given out 45 traffic violation tickets.

Officers patrol a 25 mile strip from Anchorage to Eklutna from 5:30-9AM.

One driver cited  was traveling more than 100 miles per hour in a 65 mph zone.APD says it's not just fast drivers getting cited. They are also ticketing drivers for tail gating.

Drivers are encouraged to stay 200 feet apart from other vehicles.APD communications director, Jennifer Castro says an easy way to keep a safe distance is count four dashes between you and other vehicles.

One pattern officers have noticed is drivers thinking warmer temps and clear roads mean they can get to their destination in less time.
APD say they would like to extend the program to other areas in Anchorage, like the seward highway.
