ANCHORAGE-The now 21-year-old Kayla Johnson does not appear to be the same girl she was last summer.Johnson is on trial for a DUI and hit and run. In July 2013 she allegedly hit Tevin George as he and a friend were walking across Huffman rd. It wasn't until one phone call and nearly a week later, police find Johnson's vehicle.

A third witness in court thursday was Detective Richard Stieding. He took the photos of the PT cruiser once it was taken to impound. The detective says the vehicle's damage is consistent to hitting a pedestrian.

Charging documents say Johnson sent text messages after the accident.
She claims to have hit a mailbox and did not know what happened "because she was so drunk."
In court Thursday, prosecutors played the audio from her initial interrogation.
Johnson says, "I know what I know," and " What i know is i was not driving the f--ing car."

Johnson says she called some friends to come and pick her up. She claims she was a passenger in her own car.

Tevin has regained his ability to speak, sit and eat on his own. His father says he's still not quite the same and shows signs of long term brain damage like memory loss. The family says they can not even let him cook on his own because he will forget he started cooking something.
