Two robberies, late Monday night and early Tuesday morning, led to two men injured after fleeing police. Anchorage Police released the names of the officers involved in shooting one of the men who will be served charges upon his release from the hospital.

31-year-old Aaron Robert Woods faces two counts of first-degree robbery for allegedly robbing both the Brown Jug liquor store in Spenard and the Jewel Lake Holiday gas station.

At about 4:30a.m. on Tuesday, police attempted a routine traffic stop on a van in Spenard that looked similar to the one reportedly seen during the Jewel Lake robbery. The driver sped off, ramming and hitting police and citizen vehicles in the process. After the van came to a stop, K-9 Officers Lars Tulip and Scott Hutson opened fire, striking Woods.

The man in the van with Woods was injured from colliding with other vehicles, and later treated and released from the hospital.

Police say the men's injuries were not life-threatening and no officers were hurt.

The investigation into the robberies and the shooting continues.

"The investigation is headed-up by both our APD Homicide Unit, as well as the state Office of Special Prosecutions and Appeals, so it's a joint investigation to determine all the facts of the case," said APD Spokesperson Marlene Lammers.

The man driving the vehicle when police arrested Woods was questioned but not charged.
