ANCHORAGE- Another strong storm has hit western Alaska, bringing coastal surges that flooded low-lying areas.

Residents in the hard-hit communities of Kotlik and Unalakleet say the storm that passed Thursday morning was nowhere near as powerful as one that brought icy flooding along the coast over the weekend.
The National Weather Service says the latest store brought winds gusts between 44 mph and 64 mph. Meteorologist Jim Brader says somewhat calmer weather is predicted in the region as the storm moves northeast.
State emergency spokesman Jeremy Zidek says 13 homes are reported damaged in Kotlik, four in Unalakleet and up to 10 in Stebbins.
Zidek says Kotlik, Scammon Bay, Tununak and Stebbins have declared local disasters. Disaster declarations also are expected from Unalakleet, Shishmaref, Saint Michael and Nunam Iqua.
