Bear Safety

by Your Alaska Link News Team

Two Alaskans faced bear enounters last weekend.

One happened in Fairbanks when an 18-year-old was dragged out of his tent by a black bear. He was camping with his friends in Angel Rocks when the bear awoke him Saturday night. The next day, Dan Goodstein was run over by a Grizzley bear in Chugach Park. Both victims recieved minor injuries, but their close calls remind Alaskans of the importance of bear safety.

A Department of Fish and Game spokesperson, Elizabeth Manning, reminds outdoor enthuiasts that it is still bear season and that bears will remain awake until late October. Until then, they are out looking for food.
