ANCHORAGE - Emergency crews on Friday were trying to reach a cargo plane that was down in mountainous terrain about 20 miles northeast of Dillingham.
The pilot of the Beechcraft 1900 told the airport he was on approach Friday morning. But federal aviation officials issued an alert at 8:30 a.m. that the Ace Air Cargo plane with a pilot and co-pilot on board did not land. The Alaska Air National Guard says it wasn't immediately known if the plane crashed or made an emergency landing. The plane was seen by other aircraft. Volunteers are attempting to reach the plane on snowmachines. The Coast Guard and the Air National Guard have sent helicopters Alaska State Troopers reported poor weather with heavy, wet snow and fog. Most Popular |
