KENAI — An 88-year-old Kenai woman has died from of injuries suffered when her car smashed into a pickup truck.

Alaska State Troopers say Eileen Rinc died Tuesday night from injuries in a crash that closed the Kenai Spur Highway at Mile 15.5 earlier that afternoon..

Two people in the pickup, 33-year-old Soldotna residents Alicia Castillo and Darren Campbell, were treated for injuries at Central Peninsula Hospital

The Peninsula Clarion () reports a southbound three-quarter ton pickup driven by Castillo was stopped on the highway and preparing to turn left into a driveway when the crash occurred.

Rinc approached from behind and sideswiped the pickup. Troopers say her small car became lodged in the pickup's wheel well.

Rinc was transported with serious injuries to Providence Hospital in Anchorage.
