It's that time of year again when children start making their Holiday wish lists.

Alaska Public Interest Research Group, AKPIRG published it's 27th annual report, "Trouble in Toyland" letting parents know which toys are the most dangerous in toy aisles.

The research was conducted on toys for children of all ages with heavy emphasis on toys targeted for children under the age of three.The 29 page report examined toys with violations in four different categories, choking hazards, chemical hazards, magnets and noise.

AKPIRG experts did note the overall safety of toys is something to celebrate,"toys on store shelves are safer then they've ever been. Regulations are stronger then they ever were," said Executive Director Matt Wallace.

Some toys with high health hazards came in shiny packages such as a Dora the Explorer backpack. The material used to give the backpack a glittery shine contains pthhalates, known to pose several health risks such as early onset puberty and lowered sperm counts.

AKPIRG experts recommend parents do in home safety tests with toys known to have high choking hazards. Parents can use a toilet paper holder or a similar item to slide objects through. According to experts, if the items slide through the holder, the toy is not safely recommended for children under three.
