Homer Man Faces Charges After Beating Dog
A 22-year-old Homer man faces animal cruelty and other charges after allegedly severely beating a dog with a baseball bat.
ANCHORAGE- A 22-year-old Homer man faces animal cruelty and other charges after allegedly severely beating a dog with a baseball bat.
The incident happened in July but wasn't reported to Alaska State Troopers until Friday.
Agency spokeswoman Megan Peters says troopers charged William H.D. Chapman after finding evidence to corroborate the beating of the dog, which was later killed by neighbors to put it out of its misery.
He faces additional charges for having a marijuana grow operation at the home as well as child endangerment since children lived there, too. Chapman also faces charges of weapons misconduct and disorderly conduct for attempting to fight with troopers.
There was no listing for Chapman, and online court records don't list an attorney for him.
The case remains under investigation.
