Within the next 30 days, the Anchorage Assembly will be introducing a new ordinance regarding freedom of speech for Anchorage residents. According to American Civil Liberties Union of Alaska Executive Director Jeffrey Mittman, this was the assurance of Assembly Chair Ernie Hall.

In a letter sent to Hall and the Assembly earlier this month, the ACLU informed the group they had violated the Municipal Charter by shutting off testimony regarding a labor law re-write.

Mittman stating "The ACLU is asking for a clear standard, and consistent procedures that protect every Anchorage resident from arbitrary denial of their rights under the Charter."
