ANCHORAGE- Officials with the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities say the state is participating Wednesday in International Walk to School Day.

Officials say DOT's Safe Routes to School staffers will join students of Kasuun Elementary School in Anchorage on their walk to school.

According to officials, the Kasuun event was organized by Safe Kids Alaska and corporate sponsor FedEx.

Department spokesman Jeremy Woodrow says more than 3,700 schools across the U. S. are signed up to celebrate International Walk to School Day on Wednesday.
