Alaska State Troopers say a 41-year-old Aleknagik man has died after a boating collision involving a Hawaii man.
ANCHORAGE- Alaska State Troopers say a 41-year-old Aleknagik man has died after a boating collision involving a Hawaii man.
Troopers say John Tugatuk Sr. died after the Tuesday collision near the boat launch at Aleknagik Lake.
According to troopers, 61-year-old David Taylor of Mountain View, Hawaii, was operating a 22-foot boat between the narrows of the river's north and south shores. Troopers say Tugatuk was in a 16-foot boat at the launch just before he started to go across to the north shore.
Troopers say Tugatuk had his back to Taylor's position. According to troopers, the front of the villager's boat struck Taylor's vessel.
Tugatuk later died at a hospital.
Troopers say Taylor didn't report any injuries to himself.
The investigation continues.
