ANCHORAGE- A jury has found a 36-year-old Anchorage man guilty of killing his girlfriend.

The jury returned its verdict Wednesday against James Marquez.

He was charged in the April 9, 2012, death of Carla Webb, who had been shot in the left eye.

Marquez argued during the trial that he should be convicted of the lesser charge of manslaughter. He claimed he was upset with Webb because she had an abortion. Her family said she wasn't pregnant.

He faces up to 99 years in prison at his November sentencing.
