ANCHORAGE- A 34-year-old Anchorage man will serve five years in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The U.S. attorney's office says in a release that Menes Weightman was sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court in Anchorage.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kelly Cavanaugh says Anchorage police were called to a house to investigate a report of someone being threatened with a firearm.
She says police contacted him there, and found him with a stolen, sawed-off shotgun, a .38 caliber revolver and ammunition.
He had three prior felony convictions, and that prevents him from legally being able to possess firearms.
