ANCHORAGE- A south Anchorage man says he was mugged in his own yard near Campbell Lake.

Anchorage police say the 76-year-old man was doing yard work Friday at his home on Edinburgh Drive south of Dimond Boulevard and was approached by three young men who asked for "donations for their team."

The man said no. He says he turned around and was knocked unconscious. He says he remembers nothing except waking up as medics arrived.

The man's wife called 911 just after 5:30 p.m. reporting that her husband had been hurt.

The man was bleeding and had suffered head injuries.

Police say the man's wallet, ring and vehicle keys were taken.

The man described the assailants as light-skinned black males.

Police are seeking information from the public in the case.

Who could do such a thing to anyone? This is an example of what's meant by the term "pavement beasts". "All that walks in the guise of man is not human." [Aristotle] But since pavement beasts appear to be human, they must be afforded due process just like everyone else. That's the way our legal system has evolved, and that is good.
