Anchorage Wood Lot Closing

Not financially viable

Tools

by Mike Ford

The Anchorage wood lot will not be operating this season. The Anchorage Soil and Water Conservation District has run the lot for the past few seasons and says it will now be closed due to financial circumstances beyond their control.

Operated as a community service project , it is not a profit-maker. The lot has relied on both drop off fees and low-cost municipality land support for many years. They do not receive financial support from the municipality.

Homeowners are encouraged to use either of the two remaining wood lots. One is in Girdwood and the other at Eagle River at the Hiland landfill.

They open May 16th and remain free.
