ANCHORAGE- A boy hit by a car while riding his bicycle across the Glenn Highway last week has died.
Anchorage police say 11-year-old Dante Gibbs never regained consciousness and died Wednesday.
Dante and a friend attempted to ride their bikes across the six-lane highway Sept. 2.
They made it to the median after crossing the eastbound three lanes, but Dante was hit by a sedan while trying to cross the westbound lanes.
Police say no citations will be issued.
The accident happened near the Muldoon exit of the highway, near the Tikahtnu Commons shopping center in East Anchorage.
Some people are attempting to use a man-made pathway near the shopping center to cross the highway. Police say people should use designated bike paths and sidewalks for safety reasons.
