ANCHORAGE- A man suspected of fleeing an Anchorage accident scene and crashing into cars has been charged with assault, criminal mischief and other counts.
Anchorage police say 52-year-old John Hamilton was arrested Wednesday night after patrol cars finally hemmed in his pickup.
Police just before 8 p.m. took a call of a hit-and-run crash near Fireweed Lane and the Seward Highway. Officers tried to stop the suspect pickup on the Old Seward Highway and pursued it south.
Officers tried to stop the pickup in a parking lot but it rammed a patrol car and fled west on Dimond Boulevard, where it struck an eastbound car.
Four patrol cars surrounded the truck at Dimond and Old Seward Highway. Police say Hamilton rammed another patrol car before he was arrested.
