ANCHORAGE- Parents, teachers, and school board members joined together Saturday morning to address the state of public education in Anchorage and across the Last Frontier.

They say the proposed increases are not enough.

Those in attendance talked about how they could get law makers to increase the base student allocation, which has not been increased in nearly four years.

School board members in attendence broke down how decisions are made based on the budget.

The bottom line, they say, is that the funds are just not there.

After hearing from Representative Les Gara via telephone, the meeting broke off into small brainstorming sessions.

Residents discussed ways to get the message to law makers that the state should do more.
