ANCHORAGE- A 46-year-old former school secretary at East and Chugiak high schools in Anchorage has pleaded guilty to a felony theft in what police say is the largest-ever theft at the school district. Gayle White of Wasilla in a deal with prosecutors pleaded guilty to second-degree theft. She had been charged with first-degree theft and scheme to defraud. School officials in 2011 detected that White while working at Chugiak had stolen $5,000 from fees paid by students for activities such as sports. She was fired in April 2011. An additional financial review indicated White had stolen more than $135,000 in activity fees from East from 2006 to 2009. Deputy District Attorney Clint Campion says the state will require restitution.
