ANCHORAGE- Anchorage police say local drivers have been keeping them busy since the new year.

In just the first week of 2014, local law enforcement have responded to over 181 calls relating to motor vehicle accidents, 23 of which involved injuries.

Police say this is a slight increase from last year, when they responded to just over 100 collisions in the first week.

Officials say that while the calls may be increasing, there could be a number of factors contributing to the rise.
