ANCHORAGE- Alaska State Troopers are trying to determine if there's a connection between a man who fired shots at officers last week in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough and a body found in a nearby lake.

The body found Wednesday matches the description of the man sought by troopers June 25.
The man after a 10-minute pursuit left his vehicle and fired shots at officers near Big Lake.
Jim Faiks spotted the body in Stephens Lake. A snowshoe was nearby.
Faiks says the dead man was dressed only in underwear and may have tried to swim across the lake using the snowshoe to keep his clothes and gun dry.
Trooper spokeswoman Beth Ipsen says both incidents are under investigation.
