ANCHORAGE- The resurrected girls' high school hockey program in Anchorage is struggling.

The school district in April killed girls hockey for a lack of participation, but the Scotty Gomez Foundation stepped in to run the program.
But there's only two teams in the league after two schools merged for one of the teams. And a third team decided to fold rather than face two super teams.
Carlos Gomez, with the Scotty Gomez Foundation, says that the first year "is a disaster."
He says the number of players is down because some girls decided to play on elite hockey teams run by private organizations.
But he reminds people that the foundation has committed to running the program for three years.
