Salvation Army Thanksgiving MealsSalvation Army Thanksgiving MealsThanksgiving is a busy time for Holiday travel, but not everyone has the opportunity to be out and about. This year, the Salvation Army made a special Thanksgiving feast for those with limited mobility. The local nonprofit wokred to build Thanksgiving meals complete with turkey, sides and dessert to hand deliver to over 500 Anchorage residents. All of the meals were prepared and packed early Thanksgivng morning by volunteers. The meals were then put into coolers and driven to their destinations across town. "We thought that we would focus on a group of individuals that would not be able to have a Thanksgiving meal because they can't get out to those sit down meals and they may not have friends or family they can go to," said Major George Baker with the Salvation Army. The Salvation Army delivered a total of five hundred and ten meals this year, up from just over three hundred and fifty last year. |

Here's one charity you very rarely if EVER hear anything bad about. It is good to know that there is SOMEONE you can turn to for help without any strings AND when you donate money you know where it goes!
