Soldiers to Conduct Combat Drill at JBER

JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON- Army officials say soldiers will be participating in airborne combat exercises at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage.


Capt. Arian Roscoe says the participants in the Wednesday exercise are paratroopers with the 2nd Engineer Brigade and the 4-25 Airborne Brigade Combat Team.


Also participating are members of the Alaska Army National Guard.


Officials say the exercise will involve about 300 paratroopers jumping from two C-23 Sherpa aircraft flying at 1,500 feet.


According to officials, the paratroopers will be wearing combat equipment to simulate jumps into hostile territories.
