In rural Alaska, residents can pay anywhere from $8-10 for a gallon of heating oil and people living in Fairbanks are dealing with poor air quality.

Experts recommend home retrofits and alternative heating methods to save on energy costs, as well as long term solutions to better streamline the state's energy needs.
