State Parks Offer A New Start For New Year

Alaska parks offer great winter outdoor events

by Mike Ford

Alaska state parks are sponsoring 3 first day hike events around the state to encourage families to get out into their local state park areas during the winter, and start the new year with fun and healthy activities.

These events are inspired by a national first day hike initiative to unite people and their state parks in all 50 states.

Independence mine state historical park in Hatcher Pass is sponsoring a staff-led first day family classic skiing event on new year's day.

Events will also take place in Delta Junction and Homer on new years day.

Great! Now when we make public lands free for those that can not afford to pay the ongoing parking passes, fees, and taxes on top of it all it will then be truly a family activity. We are taxed for wars, and boondoggle bail outs and then get gouged for trying to enjoy our land.
