State Troopers Purchase Tactical Response Vehicles
FAIRBANKS - Alaska State Troopers recently purchased three military-style armed vehicles called Lenco BearCats.
The vehicles, built by Lenco Armored Vehicles of Pittsfield, Mass., are going to Fairbanks, Soldotna and Palmer.
According to troopers and the Fairbanks Police Department, it doesn't have anything like the BearCat, but Hahn says Anchorage Police do. A few years ago, Anchorage Police used their military-style vehicle when confronting a suspect who shot at a trooper near Willow.
According to Hahn, each vehicle is anticipated to have a 20 year life expectancy.
